Nairobi, Kenya8 years building Tumaini Woodworks

I'm Peter. I apprenticed for ten years before opening my own workshop in Nairobi. I want one partner who understands that good furniture and good training take the same patience.

Why I started this business

I learned this trade because nobody would give me an office job without connections. A carpenter in Kariobangi took me in and taught me for ten years without ever asking for a shilling. Tumaini exists to repay that. We build furniture that lasts, and every year six young people leave here with a skill nobody can take from them. My dream is a workshop big enough to take twenty apprentices at a time.
