How to pitch your business
A calm, seven-minute pitch that focuses on the customer, the problem, and your plan — not buzzwords.
A pitch is a conversation, not a performance. The best pitches on Build Kenya feel like a founder explaining their work to a curious cousin.
The seven-minute shape
Minute 1 — Who you are and why this business matters to you.
Minutes 2–3 — The customer and the problem. Use a real example.
Minutes 4–5 — What you do, how you make money, and what's working.
Minute 6 — What you need funding for, and how you'll use every shilling.
Minute 7 — What you're offering, and an invitation to ask questions.
Words to avoid
'Disrupt', 'revolutionary', 'unicorn'. Investors trust plain language and honest numbers.
If you can't explain something to a family member, simplify it before your pitch.
